Help for Anxiety
Anxiety Symptoms
Signs of persistent anxiety include feelings of worry across many situations, sleep problems, appetite changes, muscle tension, difficulty focusing, irritability, and increased heart rate.
Worry vs. Anxiety
Everyone feels nervous or worried at times, and anxiety is a normal stress response designed to keep us alert and safe. Disordered anxiety, however, can impact every facet of our lives from our ability to work to our relationships with loved ones.
Help is Available
If you are struggling with anxiety, you are not alone. According to the American Psychological Association and National Institute of Mental Health, at least 18% of U.S. adults and 25% of adolescents will experience anxiety.
How is it Treated?
Therapy tailored to a client’s specific needs can help. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are considered effective treatments for anxiety. Therapy can help us learn coping skills and transform our thinking.
